Best SUVs by Budget

Under £5,000: Look for older examples of the Toyota C-HR. Higher mileage is fine on reliable SUVs — just check the service history.

£5,000-£10,000: The sweet spot for a reliable used SUV. Most of the top 5 are available in this range with reasonable mileage.

£10,000-£15,000: Nearly-new examples with warranty remaining. Consider the Kia NIRO.

SUVs to Avoid

The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque L538 (reliability: 0.72) and Land Rover Discovery Sport (0.72) sit at the bottom of our rankings. They're not terrible cars, but expect higher maintenance costs.

Premium SUVs from Land Rover, BMW, and Audi have the most failure modes and the highest repair costs. Budget accordingly.
